Second Suspicious Device Investigated in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -Police are investigating a suspicious device at a Tallahassee church.

A suspicious package was left at Celebration Baptist Church located on 3300 Shamrock St E this morning. 

According to police, a male left a suitcase in the reception area of the church after making several statements to a church clerk, that led them to believe the suitcase contained a bomb.

Police officials arrived with the Big Bend Regional Bomb Squad (BBRBS) and it was determined that the suitcase contained no explosives and was safe.

This is the second suspicious package investigated by the department in the last 24 hours. 

According to police, on Wednesday Jared Simpson left a package at 4th Quarter Bar and Grill on North Monroe; police were called out to investigate. 

Simpson was later arrested after the package was deemed safe and his vehicle for searched by the bomb squad for any other harmful devices. 

It is unclear what kind of device Simpson was in possession of but police are saying he did not have a bomb.
