TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The second suspect involved in ramming into a patrol car while leading officers on a chase in a stolen vehicle has been arrested.
Patrick Collins, 18, was identified by the Tallahassee Police Department as the driver of the stolen red Dodge Ram that fled from officers on Jan. 3.
TPD said Collins was also involved in several burglaries while in the company of the 17-year-old suspect.
He is being charged with:
- aggravated assault
- flee/elude LEO at high speed
- two counts of grand theft of motor vehicle
- burglary of an unoccupied structure unarmed
- burglary of an unoccupied conveyance unarmed
- resist officer obstruct without violence
- moving traffic violation operate motor vehicle without valid license
He was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility. He was also arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in December.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A 17-year-old has been arrested in Tallahassee after ramming into a patrol car while leading officers on a chase in a stolen vehicle Thursday morning.
On Thursday at about 3:16 a.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of Lemond Street in reference to two suspects committing vehicle burglaries.
When officers arrived on scene, they saw the suspects driving away in a red Dodge Ram truck. When officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, the suspects intentionally rammed the patrol car, causing it to become inoperable.
Officers then began to pursue the vehicle on foot to the parking lot of 3000 South Adams Street.
Both suspects eventually got out of the car and fled on foot. Officers were only able to catch one of the suspects, who was 17-years-old, near the 400 block of Georgetown Drive.
Officers discovered that the Dodge Ram was stolen earlier in the night from the 1500 block of Stone Road and was associated with another vehicle burglary in the same area.
The 17-year-old is being charged with two counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle, burglary of an unoccupied structure, and resisting an officer without violence.
