TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It is day 24 of the partial government shutdown and many federal workers are struggling after missing a paycheck last Friday.

While some federal workers in the US are starting to go to food pantries to get supplies they can't afford, locally, the Second Harvest of the Big Bend has not seen many federal workers by their pantry locations.

CEO of Second Harvest Rick Minor said the company is looking out and is ready to serve federal workers as needed.

"We actually got a pretty healthy level of food inventory right now, so we are making sure those partners that we work with, the food pantries and all the other soup kitchens are getting the food they need, so that they can serve folks that come to those places," said Minor.

Minor said if you are struggling for food right now you can visit www.fightinghunger.org.
