TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Second Harvest of the Big Bend is receiving some much needed money added to its fiscal year budget.
One million in state funding for Second Harvest, is included in the 2018-2019 budget following requests by Sen. Montford and Rep. Ausley.
The money will go to help the food bank's efforts to increase its emergency food for Distribution Capacity and Resiliency.
Second Harvest of the Big Bend plays a pivotal role in Florida's distribution of emergency food and water before and after disasters.
"It will go along way to increase the state wide resiliency of our distribution of emergency food and water," said Rick Minor, CEO of Second Harvest. "Second Harvest of the Big Bend is one of the main hubs that distributes disaster water and food to storm effected areas."
