QUINCY, FL (WTXL) -- A local food bank received a very generous donation Wednesday morning. The SuperValu Distribution Center in Quincy gifted $15,000 to the Second Harvest of the Big Bend.

"Anytime you can come out and support the community and make that type of investment that can feed about two to three hundred people in our community, to me, is epic," says Eric Hinson, the Vice Chairman of Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners.

Second Harvest of the Big Bend serves 11 counties in the area, but the money donated today will be staying in Gadsden County to help feel area families.

A donation of this size is expected to last for a few months in the county, and provide more than 60,000 meals to those in need.

"It solidifies the commitment to the local community," says Danny Ward, Quincy's SuperValu Distribution center's general manager. "If is wasn't for the local community and what we have here, we wouldn't be successful. It's a good partnership, a good pay back, and just a good way to see those funds help others that may not be as fortunate."

In addition to this donation, the SuperValu Distribution Center donated dozens of pallets of milk Tuesday to the Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
