TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - As we prepare our children to head back to school, Second Harvest of the Big Bend gave some helpful tips Wednesday on how to make nutritional lunches.

At the Jane G. Sauls Fort Braden Branch Library, kids got to learn how to create a healthy strawberry cashew butter wrap.

They also learned the importance of how to have a balanced lunch, like having water instead of soda, and vegetables instead of chips.

Jane Plank, Nutritional Coordinator at Second Harvest of the Big Bend, says if we teach children how to eat right, it will help them be successful later in life.

"It's important to get good nutrition at school so that it helps them focus better and it also makes sure they reach all their nutrient milestones as they grow," said Plank.
