MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) - Local author Rhett DeVane forms an interesting intersection between Breast Cancer Awareness Month and National Cook Book Author Month.

On Monday's Second Cup, WTXL ABC Sunrise Anchor Malcolm Hornsby spoke with Rhett, an author from Chattahoochee.

She has written several books, many of which center around food.

Each book has recipes included. We checked out a Pumpkin Muffin recipe and a Sweet Potato Biscuit recipe that was in her book.

Her book titled "Mama's Comfort Food" has a protagonist who battles breast cancer.

DeVane has published mainstream fiction novels set in her hometown of Chattahoochee, a burg with two stoplights and a state mental institution on the main drag. Her short fiction pieces have appeared in five anthologies.

For the past forty-plus years, Rhett has made her home in Tallahassee, where she splits time between writing and thinking about writing.
