TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (The News Service of Florida) - Gov. Rick Scott on Tuesday released a proposed $87.4 billion budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year, an initial step as lawmakers prepare to negotiate a spending plan during the legislative session that starts in January.
Scott released the proposal during a news conference in Jacksonville after trickling out key details in recent weeks.
Among other things, the proposal includes $53 million to help combat the opioid epidemic, $50 million for the Florida Forever conservation program and $30 million to increase salaries of law-enforcement officers.
The proposal also calls for $180 million in tax and fee cuts.
