TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Gov. Rick Scott is offering utility companies additional help so you can get your power faster.

He is providing additional federal "push crews" who will go ahead of utility crews and clear their paths so the utilities can focus solely on getting power restored.

All around town, trees are down on power polls, poles themselves are snapped in half, and it's causing road blockage and traffic backups.

One Tallahassee resident, Flo Harmony, says she's happy to just be alive after seeing one tree nearly miss her home.

"I was in the kitchen and I was talking to my friend and the tree came toward me or my nose and was two feet away from my house," she said. "It brushed my house as did my pine tree next door. It brushed the utility line of the house but it didn’t hit anything on the house."

Harmony says her biggest need right now is just a working chainsaw, but is thankful for all of the help she has received.
