TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Meet today's Leon County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officer of the Day: Deputy Doug Dirickson.
Dirkcison - recognized for his work at Sail High School on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 - is a 22-year law-enforcement veteran who works "hard at playing really bad guitar."
At Sail students he enjoys "the opportunity to see positive things and to be a positive influence in the lives of youth."
He was inspired to go into law enforcement by the television show Miami Vice, which featured stars wearing cool street clothes and driving a Ferrari while catching bad guys.
"Now, I wear polyester and drive an ancient Ford," he said.
