TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida's brand new test is off to a rough start.
Several school districts on Monday were forced to delay or suspend testing due to technical issues with the state's new standardized tests.
Hillsborough County halted tests in 18 middle schools. Some Palm Beach County students in three grades were also unable to log into to take the test. There have also been reports about problems from other districts as well.
Florida this year is switching to a new test known as the Florida Standards Assessment. Most students are taking the test online.
School district officials said it appears an online portal was overwhelmed by the number of students trying to log in.
A spokeswoman for Education Commissioner Pam Stewart said state officials are looking into the cause of the problems.
