TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Wednesday morning, students and faculty at Sabal Palm Elementary celebrated the lives of the family killed in a April house fire.

Rajames Scott and her daughters Aniyah and Anisha were killed in a house fire on April 22. Rajames was a 2nd grade teacher at Sabal Palm Elementary where her two daughters attended.

At the event, the school paid tribute to the family in addition to Coach Farley, a P.E. teacher that died in October. After the ceremony, students had a field day for Patriots Awareness Day.

"I think it gave the students a chance to honor them. And it also gave the students an opportunity to provide some closure," said Sabal Palm Principal Anicia Robinson. "There's been a lot of stuff in the media about the house fire and things of that nature, so this kind of gave the students a chance to honor their memory and to end the school year on a good note."

Students sang and danced to the song "See You Again" and placed pin wheels next to a plaque for the Scott family engraved with, "Those we love don't go away, they grow beside us everyday."

Assistant Principal Jameeka Wallace said both Rajames and Coach Farley were amazing educators.

"What they contributed to Sabal Palm families we will never forget their kindness, their passion, their dedication for teaching students was absolutely remarkable. We will also everyday try to honor their memory and celebrate their life," said Wallace.

Paris Reddick, a Sabal Palm 5th grader, remembered how she would stop by Rajames' classroom and talk with her because of her warmth.

"I hope that y'all are in wonderful place... I know that ya'll are in wonderful place," said Reddick.
