SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - One person suffered minor injuries after a school bus driver failed to stop at a stop sign, causing another vehicle to hit a tree in Suwannee County.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Florida Highway Patrol responded to an accident involving a school bus.

According to FHP, the school bus was traveling north on 135th Drive approaching the intersection of 135th Drive and 92nd Street and the other car was traveling east approaching the same intersection.

FHP says the school bus driver failed to stop at the stop sign and made a right turn, failing to yield the right of way to the other car.

FHP says the car then veered off the road and hit a tree.

The driver of the car was not injured, while the passenger only suffered minor injuries.

FHP says a total of 26 passengers were on the school bus at the time of the accident and none were injured.

The school bus driver is being charged with violation of right of way.
