ORLANDO, Fla. (WWSB) - A Sarasota couple has built and installed a new cross to mark the site where Caylee Anthony's body was found 8 years ago.
Caylee Anthony would have been 11 years old today. She died at the age of 2 in 2008 and her body was found along Suburban Drive in Orlando months after she disappeared.
Wally and Jeanine Goodnough of Sarasota mowed and cleaned the area before installing the new cross, which has become a memorial. It's painted with flowers and butterflies.
Previous crosses at the site have been stolen, according to Facebook posts.
"You have touched millions that would be proud to call you their child and love you the way you should have been loved," wrote the Goodnough's on their post.
The couple said they will be in Orlando at 7 p.m. Tuesday night to release 11 balloons in memory of Calyee's birthday.
"She loved the color purple," they wrote. "Anyone that wants to be there, please feel free to show up."
