NEW YORK (AP) - Becca Pizzi has run 52 marathons and trained in all sorts of places, but there's one constant when she hits the road: She's always on the lookout for people who might be intent on harming a woman running alone.
The killings over the past week of two women who had gone out for a run in New York and Massachusetts have reinforced the fears of many female athletes.
Last Sunday, a 27-year-old woman disappeared during her late-afternoon run in rural Princeton, Massachusetts, and was later found dead.
A week ago, a woman was strangled in New York City after going for a run through a secluded coastal marshland.
