TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A hiring event had some wondering whether or not an Aldi store could be making its way to the Capital City.
According to Aldi's career site for potential applicants, the company is holding a hiring event on Feb. 22.
The website says they are hiring for "our store located in Tallahassee."
Interested parties are asked to meet at the Courtyard by Marriott at 1018 Apalachee Parkway on Thursday, February 22. The hiring event will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
However, officials say the hiring event isn't hinting at a new store. In fact, Matt Thon, the Haines City division vice president for ALDI, says there's "no specific plans" for a new Capital City store:
"We host hiring events at a variety of locations based on the needs of our stores in Florida. In fact, just last month we hosted a statewide, one-day hiring spree to fill more than 400 positions across the state. While no specific plans are currently in the works for a Tallahassee location, we’re excited to continue to grow our local footprint and team, and apologize for any confusion."
According to BusinessInsider.com, Aldi is expected to add 180 stores in 2018. Grand openings are scheduled in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Ohio, and Texas.
"We’re already in two-thirds of the country, with plans to have nearly 2,000 stores from coast to coast by 2018," the company wrote on it's website.
