TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Today is World Polio Day, and in the Big Bend, one group is raising awareness about the disease.
The Rotary Club of the Tallahassee Southside is getting the word out all day long.
WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Wednesday morning to tell how they are getting their message across.
The Rotary CLub is hosting two events, a luncheon to teach adults in our community more about the disease and also a visit to a local school to teach the children.
Rotary Clubs across the country are all getting involved today.
But even outside of World Polio Day, the club works to raise awareness and funds to promote research and ways to eradicate the disease.
There's an increase in interest this year due to all of the recent cases of polio-like diseases.
The Rotary Club will visit students at Florida High at 3 p.m. to continue the conversation.
