ORLANDO, Fla. (WFTV) -- Life will never be the same for Ronny Ahmed.

The Florida State University student was near the Strozier Library when a man walked up and opened fire. Gunman Myron May is the only one who died that night.

Ronny was one of three people shot. The bullet damaged his spinal cord, and he's now paralyzed from the waist down --  but his memory and his drive are still strong.

He spoke out for the first time with ABC affiliate WFTV in his hometown of Orlando.

Reporter: "When you felt the bullet, what did you think?"

Ronny Ahmed: "I just couldn't believe that this was actually happening."

Reporter: "You saw his eyes."

Ronny Ahmed: "Yeah."

Reporter: What did you see in them?"

Ronny Ahmen: "Nothing. I mean just someone that was crazy, honestly."

Ronny also recalled this moment from that night: "Freeze, drop your weapon, drop your weapon, drop your weapon and then 20 to 30 bullets."

The 21-year old says he will go back to FSU, to continue studying biomedical engineering.

In the wake of the shooting, community members started an online fund to help Ronny with his medical bills. It's raised more than $185,000 of the $300,000 goal. You can donate by clicking here.
