JEFFERSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida Highway Patrol reports on car crash on I-10 in Jefferson County on Wednesday, November 16 around 2:32 p.m.
Reports say a Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on I-10 in the left lane and 62-year-old, Rory Simpson, was traveling in the right lane when traffic began to get backed up. To avoid hitting the car in front of it, the drive of the Explorer applied the brakes and steered to the right.
Troopers say the Explorer rotated in a clockwise direction and traveled southeast across the center line into the right travel lane. The front of Simpson's car collided with the right side of the Ford Explorer.
The Explorer traveled southeast onto the south shoulder of Interstate 10. Simpson rotated in a clockwise direction and traveled southeast onto the south shoulder of Interstate 10.
The left side of Explorer collided with several small bushes and shrubs. Simpson's car began to overturn onto its left side when the top of the hood and windshield collided with a tree, causing it to rotate back onto its tires.
The driver of the Ford Explorer is being charged with careless driving.
