Robbery Suspect Recovering After Shot by College Park Police

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. (AP) — A robbery suspect is recovering in the hospital after being shot by a College Park police officer.

College Park Police Chief Keith Meadows tells local media outlets that two men flagged down two officers early Monday, saying that they had been robbed by three men.

Meadows says the officers spotted three men, tried to apprehend them and then shot one of the suspects in the arm and leg with what are believed to non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear why the officers began shooting.

Police say a gun was found in the parking lot where the shots were fired.

Neither the officers involved, nor the other two suspects — both of whom were arrested — were injured.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will investigate the shooting.
