DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Police say a Flagler County man suspected of robbery led police officers on a car chase through three counties before being apprehended.
The chase Thursday night started shortly after the suspect, Daniel J. Ruddell, 45, of Palm Coast, Fla., robbed a Daytona Beach Circle K store, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. He threatened the clerk with a bottle of liquid he claimed was toxic before driving away in his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado.
He then led police in a chase through Volusia, Flagler and St. Johns counties before crashing his vehicle in St. Johns County. He was taken to a nearby hospital before being arrested and charged with aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude with property damage.
