Roadwork in the FAMU Area Will Lead to Closures on Wahnish Way

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., (WTXL) - Road closures in the Florida A & M University area are set to begin Friday.

Wahnish Way from FAMU Way to Eugenia Street will be completely closed over the weekend.

The road will close Friday, January 23, at 6p.m. and will reopen Monday, January 26, at 6a.m.

The City of Tallahassee Electric will be taking care of installation of conduit and infrastructure across the roadway.

Barricades will be set up in the area.

And that motorists should be aware of the work zone, be prepared to stop and follow all signals to help ensure everyone's safety.

They also remind drivers, under Florida law, motorists are required to:

• Approach law enforcement patrol cars, emergency vehicles, utility service vehicles, sanitation vehicles and tow trucks/wreckers with caution.

• Change lanes away from these vehicles, if traveling on a multi-lane roadway and able to move over safely; or

• Slow down to a speed that is 20 mph less than the posted speed limit when a clearly identified emergency or work crew vehicle is parked and crews are working.
