TIFTON, GA (WTXL) - Authorities are asking drivers to avoid U.S. 82/SR 520 at Commerce Street, Third Street at Commerce, and Central Street at Commerce after a tractor-trailer was hit by a train in Tifton.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the trailer was carrying peanut seed when it was hit by the train around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
The driver was not injured but the train did suffer damages, according to DOT.
Officials say it is not known how long the roads will be blocked and that drivers should avoid the area.
