TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Crews spent the day working in some of Tallahassee's hardest hit neighborhoods.
Governor Rick Scott was out with workers from the Florida Department of Transportation as they faced topped trees entangled with power lines. Even though officials said more than 90 percent of power has been restored, there are still over 8,000 homes and businesses in Tallahassee and Leon County without power.
"We have people who can't work. They're not going to make a paycheck, because they cannot work. Right now, the real focus is on how do we get people back to work?" said Governor Scott.
He added that once the recovery process is over, state and local leaders should work together to figure out how to be better prepared for a future storm.
