WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The reward amount has been raised for information leading to the arrest of those involved in the vandalism of two churches and a vehicle over the weekend in Wakulla County.
The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office is now offering $5,000 for the information. The original reward was for $1,000.
The Sheriff's Office says they were able to bump up the reward following a donation from Dr. David Bellamy and Dr. Hank Hutchison from the Tallahassee Orthopedic Center.
Deputies say over the weekend the letters "KKK" were sprayed on Primitive Rest Baptist Church Missionary Baptist Church as well as a vehicle parked at the Wildwood Golf Course.
The case is being investigated by the sheriff's office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the FBI.
The Wakulla chapter of the NAACP also announced a prayer vigil on Thursday in conjunction with the Wakulla County Christian Coalition, asking the community to come together to promote healing in the county as a result of the recent events that have taken place.
The vigil is open to the public and will be at 6:30 pm at New Bridge Hope Church in Wakulla.
This event will be just one day after a town hall meeting in Wakulla on Wednesday Night from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church that will address racial tensions in the community and nationally with local and state law enforcement officers.
