Reward raised for information on 2016 Tallahassee homicide

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee Police say the reward for information on the person responsible for murdering a man in 2016 has been raised.

In partnership with Big Bend Crime Stoppers, the Tallahassee Police Department is announcing a $4000.00 reward for information which leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the homicide of Mr. George Calvin Bess.  

The announcement is being made after the Bess family raised additional funds to be added to the reward money which is being housed by the Crime Stoppers organization.

Bess, 48, was shot and killed on Rankin Avenue in 2016.

They said witnesses to the shooting on saw a car leave the scene with it's headlights off after they heard gunshots.

TPD says that investigators are continuing to follow up on any and all new leads they receive regarding the case and are asking the public to please contact Crime Stoppers if they have any information about the homicide. 

TPD also continues to seek information about the suspect vehicle and have asked anyone who may have heard gunshots to please call Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
