SEBASTIAN, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say they're trying to find the parachute of a retired Marine who died in an apparent skydiving accident over the weekend in central Florida.
Sebastian police say 71-year-old Wilfrid Hector became separated from his main parachute during his descent Saturday morning, and his reserve chute failed to deploy. Treasure Coast Newspapers (http://goo.gl/UjMIpn ) reports that Hector was an experienced skydiver.
Officials were continuing to search for that main parachute Monday, saying it could be a clue to finding out what went wrong.
Police have not found any evidence of foul play. The Federal Aviation Administration also investigating.
Officials from Skydive Sebastian declined to comment while the investigation is underway.
