Residents in Wakulla County hold rally fighting for families to be reunited

WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Just 20 miles from the Capital City, Wakulla County had their own rally on Saturday.

Protesters chanted about the inhumane nature of family separation outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Center in Crawfordville.

According to studies by the Center for Youth Wellness, children actually have long-term effects from being separated from their families.

"This is something I know about personally since I was separated from my family as a refugee in Congo during the Congo Revolution of 1964," said protester Faith Eidse. "I can't do simple math or learn music when I'm stressed out. It's as though I had a good brain. I can remember my good brain and now I have a bad brain."

Eidse is using her traumatic experience to fight for the 2,000 children currently in ICE centers.
