Residents Escape from Sunday Fire in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Sunday around 11 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire south of the fairgrounds.

The fire happened in the 500 block of Marcys Lane. It was reported that two residents were still inside, but managed to escape by the time firefighters arrived.

The residents suffered from minor smoke inhalation and were treated on scene, they were later transported to a local hospital for further evaluation, according to firefighters.

Damages are estimated to be $10,000, and TFD says the cause of the fire was the air conditioning unit.

TFD was assisted by Leon County Sheriffs Office, Leon County Emergency Medical Services, Woodville Volunteers and the American Red Cross.
