TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Another electronic sweepstakes company under fire has also given substantial money to Florida Republicans.

Campaign finance records show that the Republican Party of Florida back in 2011 received a $50,000 check from VS2 Worldwide Communications.

The company is one of a handful of defendants indicted in Ohio in connection with operating an illegal gambling ring.

The owners of the New Jersey company are accused of laundering gambling profits through numerous bank accounts, including one in Ukraine.

This investigation is separate from one involving the Allied Veterans of the World charity. That organization was accused of running a $290 million illegal gambling business that directed most of the proceeds into its owners' pockets.

Florida politicians have been rushing to return campaign donations received from Allied and its affiliates.
