MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A local school was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after deputies received reports of possible gunshots near campus.

At about 12:50 p.m., a Madison County Sheriff's Office School Resource Deputy received a report that a "couple" possible gun shots were heard at an estimated distance of two or three miles west of the Madison Creative Arts Academy campus.

MSCO said in accordance with safety protocol and abundance of caution, the Madison Creative Arts Academy initiated “Shelter In Place” while multiple deputies responded to check the campus and surrounding areas for any type of activity.

According to MCSO, there was no suspicious activity, people, or sounds identified. The “Shelter In Place” has since been lifted to resume normal school related activities.
