LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Officials in Leon County are making a big announcement when it comes the benefit of non-profit organizations.
The Institute for Nonprofit Innovation and Excellence unveiled a new report Tuesday morning.
It found that non-profits in the Big Bend help create one out of every five dollars locally.
That's more than $3 billion a year.
The organizations also employ one out of every 10 workers.
But even with those numbers, many non-profits are still struggling to meet the needs of the communities they serve.
According to the new report, two-thirds of the groups say they don't have enough resources to reach everyone in need.
Right now there are over 2,000 non-profit organizations in Leon County.
