VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A new report using FBI crime report statistics lists the 20 safest cities in Georgia, but south Georgia communities are absent from the top of the list.
All cities with less than 4,000 residents were excluded from the Safewise.com report, along with any cities that did not submit a complete crime report to the FBI.
The website looked at the number of reported violent crimes and property crimes and then calculated the likelihood of those crimes occurring in the city to compile the results.
Summerville was the safest city, according to the report.
When it came to cities in our area, Cairo came in at 49 and Adele at 55.
Valdosta was ranked the 79th safest out of 100 while Thomasville finished at 95.
Moultrie barely avoided the last spot, coming in at 98.
