TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Starting in August, Tallahassee Regional Airport is getting, what officials are saying, much needed renovations.

The terminal hasn't had any significant renovations since it was built in 1989.

Officials have already drawn up the designs, which would create a project that could cost anywhere from $10 to $12 million dollars. Construction will be funded by the Transportation Security Agency (TSA), the Florida Department of Transportation, and local airport funding sources.

Officials say the facility right now lacks identity and amenities as a Capital City airport.

They're hoping the new facility will enhance revenue through food, beverage, and retail sales,as well as bring in more jobs.

They also hope technology updates will bring in more airlines, so the airport can increase destinations.

The project is expected to take around nine months.
