A Polk County student was arrested after bringing a loaded gun to school, police say.
On Monday, an Auburndale High School student informed school staff that a 9th grade student brought a loaded handgun to school and currently had the handgun in his backpack.
The school resource officer and other Auburndale PD officers made contact with the student and found a Glock 40 caliber handgun loaded with target rounds in his backpack.
He was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center in Bartow.
The Auburndale Police Department encourages everyone if you see something, say something.
