If you are headed out of town for Thanksgiving and traveling on Florida's Turnpike, make a note of this.
Drivers can get a free pick-me-up in the form of hot coffee at multiple places during the holiday weekend at select times.
According to a Florida Department of Transportation news release, the coffee will be available at Shell convenience stores or in the lobby of their Service Plazas during specific peak Thanksgiving travel periods to promote driver safety.
Below are the list of Shell convenience stores/lobby locations and times offering the free coffee:
- Turkey Lake in Orange County
- Canoe Creek in Osceola County
- Fort Drum in Okeechobee County
- Fort Pierce in St. Lucie County
- West Palm Beach in Palm Beach County
- 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 to 6 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 28
- 11 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1 to 6 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2
FDOT says the normal morning and afternoon rush-hour periods 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. may be congested with holiday travelers and local commuters on their way to work. They encourage motorists to schedule their travel around these peak hours.
