TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee organization that helps victims of abuse and domestic violence officially has a new place to call home.

WTXL ABC's Jada Williams joins was live Friday morning from the Leon County Courthouse, where they group is inviting you to celebrate with them.

Refuge House is welcoming all to come Friday to celebrate their new space at the Leon County Courthouse.

Working inside the courthouse allows victims to visit them and seek assistance filing injunctions for protective orders for things like sexual abuse and domestic or dating violence.

The group has held a small space inside the Courthouse since the early 90's, but the executive directors says that with an actual office space, they can provide more resources at the courthouse to help even more people.

"In addition to this expanded space, we've also grown to be able to staff the office with two staff members, so that if there are multiple clients in the office at the same time - which is pretty common - we have the staff and advocates to support them at a very stressful time," said Meg Baldwin, the Refuge House executive director.

Baldwin says the team serves more than a 1,000 people per year and they will now also have a full time attorney on site to help assist those in need.

The open house is Friday at 3 p.m. at the Leon County Courthouse.
