TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The coffee scene in Tallahassee is brewing with a big announcement.
Thursday, two local companies announced they are joining forces, RedEye Coffee and Catalina Cafe.
RedEye's founder said this will bring the best of both companies together and they're ready to take coffee in Tallahassee to the next level.
RedEye will now have six locations that include Catalina's current sites on Gaines Street and Capital Circle.
We talked to Mark McNees, Founder and CEO of RedEye, who said both companies are passionate about an ethical and fair trade approach to coffee.
McNees said RedEye's future is bright in Tallahassee, especially in the Southside.
"We're looking in the fall that we're going to open a really new concept in coffee and gathering space is going to be down there," said McNees. "So, we think being across the street from Happy Motoring and catty corner to Proof Brewery that South Adams is going to be a really cool place to be."
McNees said the new space gives RedEye a roasting facility, commercial kitchen and training space it will call RedEye U.
He said it should be open for retail some time around August or September.
RedEye will have a VIP reception at their new space in two weeks, so customers can take a look around.
