MIDWAY, FL. (WTXL) - A Florida Appeals Court has upheld the use of red light cameras in the state and is recommending the State Supreme Court take up the case.
The City of Midway recently installed new red light cameras. The cameras won't take part in issuing traffic tickets until August 15, 2016. They're in place now as an early warning of their implementation.
The appeals court ruled Wednesday in favor of the City of Aventura using the cameras, which are run by a vendor. The 3rd District Judges said, the use of red light cameras is an issue of great public importance and should go before the Florida Supreme Court.
