TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The bold Red Cross is a symbol that help is near when disaster hits.

Often, the American Red Cross is the only source of relief for people in need of a helping hand.

Thanks to the local Tallahassee chapter, Northwoods Baptist Church is currently home to 39 people displaced from Hurricane Irma. Evacuees have access to shelter, hot food, water and baby supplies for as long as they need.

As Florida residents travel back home and start to resume their normal lives, our friends at the red cross will continue preparing for the next time we find ourselves in need.
