TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)- Tallahassee's Kearney Center is offering rapid re-housing financial assistance to help capital city residents in need.

The assistance will only be available until July 31st.

To be eligible, your income cannot exceed $13,700. You must also have a lease for a house that is not more than 30% of your annual income. No one with a felony release date less than 5 years ago will be considered, and no one with sexual-based or meth-related felonies may apply.

All you have to do is see a housing specialist at the Kearney Center.

The center has less than 6 weeks to spend the $30,000 allotted for the program.

They say it's all about helping someone who needs just a small push to get back on their feet.

"The purpose of it is to assist someone who otherwise would be able to make successful payments and live on their own and without any further assistance if that single one-time cost related to moving in was covered for them," said Monique Ellisworth, Executive Director of the Kearney Center

The funds can be used to help with new leases, utility deposits, and any past due utility bills.

Each client is eligible to receive up to $1,500.
