TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida primary election is right around the corner and if you want to help create social change but don't know how, two major organizations are teaming up to help.

Equality Florida and Planned Parenthood are working around the state to give tips on how to speak with lawmakers and others about social issues impacting our society.

At the Rapid Response Corps Boot Camp, people learned how to advocate on social media, over the phone, and in person.

Event organizers say it's important to give people these tools to help create change in the community.

"People feel there is a lot going on in our country and our state and they want tactics and a better understanding of what's happening and how they can talk to not only lawmakers, but their friends, family and their neighbors," said Missy Wesolowski of Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida.

Equality Florida and Planned Parenthood will be holding two more trainings next month in Lakeland and Jacksonville.
