TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida's three independently elected Cabinet members can't file or vote on bills, but each is working with lawmakers to pass a list of priorities.

Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam is already assured his top priority will become law - Gov. Rick Scott plans to sign a bill Thursday that's designed to clean the state's waterways and protect water resources.

Attorney General Pam Bondi is seeking a law that would require DNA collected during rape investigations be turned over to the state's crime lab within 21 days and entered into statewide and national databases.

Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater is backing legislation that would require life insurance companies to actively ensure policy holders are still alive instead of waiting for beneficiaries to contact them.
