SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL)-- The Florida Department of Health has issued a rabies alert within the area south of Highway 90 and West 185th Road in Suwannee County. It's due to positive lab results from a cat.
According to the Suwannee Democrat, officials are suggesting you follow these steps to make sure you and your family stay our of harm's way:
-Avoid contact with free roaming domestic or wild animals
-Make sure your animals are vaccinated
-Do not feed stray or wild animals
-Teach children to stay away
