Quincy woman claims top prize in the $5,000 a week for life scratch-off game

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida Lottery announces that Bernadine Britt, 64, of Quincy, claimed a top prize in the $5,000 a Week for Life Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

Britt chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $4,080,000.00. She purchased her winning ticket from S&W Brother’s, located at 830 East Jefferson Street in Quincy.

The retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

The $10 Scratch-Off game, $5,000 a Week For Life, launched on July 3, and features more than $148 million in total cash prizes. The game’s overall odds of winning are one-in-3.35.

Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery's portfolio of games, comprising approximately 68 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $784 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2016-17.
