GADSDEN COUNTY, fla. (WTXL) - A Quincy man died and a woman suffered critical injuries in the collision of a motorcycle and a car in Gadsden County. 

David Glenn Underwood, 32, of Quincy was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash about 6:35 p.m. Sunday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He was riding the motorcycle when the accident happened on County Road 274 at Union Chapel Road.

The driver of the car, Alice Akery, 65, of Quincy, received critical injuries and was taken to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. 

Troopers said the car was turning east onto County Road 274 from Union Chapel Road and the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on CR-274 approaching Union Chapel Road.

The driver of the car entered the eastbound lane of CR-274 and traveled into the path of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle rider tried to reduce speed but was unable to avoid a collision,

During the collision, the car overturned onto its roof and the motorcycle rider became separated from the motorcycle.

"Preliminary estimations suggest the motorcycle may have been exceeding the posted speed limit for the roadway," trooper said in a news release.
