TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Quincy man stopped for driving a truck pulling a trailer with no license plate displayed was arrested for grand theft of a motor vehicle.

Kendrick Bernard Brown, 26, remained in the Leon County Detention Center on Tuesday on a $5,200 bond.

Booked into jail Saturday, Brown also faces charges of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.

While driving on Commonwealth Boulevard, Brown was stopped by a Leon County deputy who noticed the trailer had no license plate, according to a probable cause affidavit. The trailer had on it a motorcycle that did not have a license plate attached.

Walking toward the deputy, Brown told the him he had no license and, the deputy said, "kept looking around as though he was looking for an exit so I secured him in handcuffs and sat him in my patrol car."

The deputy said his query to a database revealed that Brown was on probation in Leon County for possession of methamphetamine.

Brown said he had borrowed the truck from the registered owner's son.

Checking the truck, the deputy found a pink zipper pouch that contained about one gram of a substance that field tested presumptively to be methamphetamine.
