GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Quincy man has been arrested after deputies say he battered a missing woman, sending her to the hospital for severe trauma.

Sam Robinson, 74, was taken into custody on Monday.

The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office says they responded to the 3400 block of Glory Road in Quincy after receiving calls from a family about a missing person and welfare check.

Prior to law enforcement's arrival, a family member found Shelia Jones, who was found unresponsive at the home of her live-in boyfriend Robinson.

Further investigation revealed that Jones was transported to the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with severe trauma to her body that resulted in immediate medical care. She was later placed in the intensive care unit.

Robinson was subsequently arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and is being held in the Gadsden County Jail on $10,000 bond.
