(WTXL) - The Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is raising money to help people in Puerto Rico recover from Hurricane Maria.
Their effort, called Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief, is accepting donations at www.prgives.org.
"The island’s entire 3.5 million population is without power, and many residents need immediate medical relief, said Julio Fuentes, president of the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
The goal is to raise $250,000 to be used to buy emergency supplies such as bottled water, canned goods, dried foods, medication, pillows and blankets, shovels and hammers, and other necessary items.
If you live in Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville or West Palm Beach and would like to drop off supplies, you're asked to email carrie@coremessage.com for more information.
