DECATUR COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) --Law Enforcement encourages you to be aware of a Publisher's Clearing House Scam that is circulating.
Authorities are asking that anyone contacted by someone representing Publisher's Clearing House who says that you have won a prize or money, do not release any personal or banking information and do not meet with the caller in person.
There have been reports of citizens being contacted and told they have won a prize or money. Then they are asked to pay the taxes on the winnings. Victims were asked to meet in person or wire the money.
The scammers may be gathering numbers through cell phone companies.
If you are contacted, please inform the Sheriff's Office or your local law enforcement agency.
